JPL Budgeting and Estimating System 2009 FAQs
For technical help, please contact JPL Support Services and use the following procedure:
- Make a print screen (button located on the top right side of
your keyboard) of the JPL Budgeting and Estimating System input form you would like to discuss. Paste the print screen copy of this form into the body of your E-mail OR try your best to describe the problem as clearly and concisely as possible.
- The subject of your E-mail should read: "USER HELP JPL
SYSTEM" Please note that only Emails containing this subject line will be read. All other Emails are deleted by our SPAM filter.

4. I cannot get a full view of some of the input pages. What am I doing wrong?
(26/02/00)
ANSWER: It's possible that the resolution setting on your computer
does not correspond to our recommended resolution setting. To ensure
that forms are always displayed correctly and completely, we
recommend the following resolutions:
Widescreen monitors: 1280 x 960
Standard monitors: 1280 x 1024
To check which graphic card is installed in your current desktop and the
maximum resolution it can handle:
Go to:
Start >
Control Panel >
Open "System" >
System Properties will appear
Choose "Hardware Tab"
Click on "Devise Manager" button
Open "Display Adapters"
You should see your display adapter (graphic card)
5. Help! I made a password change, but I am not sure if I am
remembering the new password correctly.
ANSWER: Which password did you change - admi or user ? If you
changed only the user password, then the solution should be easy. Log
in to the administrator section and just open the "Enter/Delete User
Input Form" and delete the user and create a new one. You can NOT
enter a password here; the password of a new user is always set to
"JPL1984 " In the "Password Change" form, change the default
password of the "new" user. The administrator input form works
similarly.
If you changed the administrator password, then the solution is a
little more complicated. Normally there is no way to recover the
password. How much data have you entered? If you haven't entered
too much data, the easiest way would be to reinstall the program.
You MUST use the add/remove function in the control panel for
removing the installed program first.
Suggestion: Do not change the default IDs and passwords,
create new administrator and user IDs, change the default
passwords, then test to see that the new administrator and user
IDs with corresponding NEW password work. Then you can
delete the default IDs and passwords.
It might be a good idea to create two different administrator IDs with
their own corresponding passwords. This way you always have a
"back door" to enter the administrator section. Note: If you do this
NEVER change both password at the same time!
A different strategy would be to backup the data file
"JPL-Budget-Data_01.accdb" (located in the JPL-DATA.... folder)
before you change the administrator password because the passwords
are stored in an encrypted form in the data file.
